You could do either that you mentioned. There are yellow overlays (yellow stickers that go on the glass and also helps protect from stone chips/cracks) or get yellow bulbs. You can also get higher output bulbs or do the high beam bulb mod.

So youre saying one can just change the bulbs and put in higher wattage bulbs. I havent pulled mine out yet, since they both are working properly. However, I was considering putting in higher watt bulbs, but was concerned about the higher amp draw.

I've been running high beams in my fogs that are on all the time since I switched the DRL's to the fogs. In other words, whenever the engine is running, the foglights are on. Even if I put on the headlights or highbeams, the fogs stay on. 2 years like that now with no problems.

Using higher wattage bulbs is asking for trouble. You'll end up frying the wiring harness.

The safer way to increase the light output is doing what many other have done, 9005 (high beam bulb) to fit 9006 (low beam) conversion.

That's what I meant. The high beam bulbs are about 10-15 watts higher wattage than the low beams. The harnesses should handle that slight change no problem.
