slipping clutch

Hi, I'm new.

I have a 03 standard base with 40k. The clutch has started to slip and I'm wondering, so I can put together how much it will cost to fix, whether the Matrix clutch is hydrolic or cable actuated. and if it can be adjusted or if I need a new clutch ?

Thanks a lot!
Jasper

check hydro fluid level in the clutch cylinder. located next to the brake master cylinder. if low top off, also try bleeding the line to add more pressure to the clutch.

The clutch has gotten to the point where it won't engage at all, so it needs to be replaced. I called the two shops around me and was quoted right around $1000 for parts and labor. 8-9 hours labor requiring the transmission and engine to be dropped. One shop said that they would replace the friction disk, pressure plate, and if needed, the main seal, and flywheel. Another shop said they would replace the friction disk, pressure plate, main seal and machine the flywheel, if it's one piece and if it was a two-piece it would need to be replaced.

Does this seem legit? or am I being hosed?

The first shop added around $200 to replace the flywheel and main seal if it was necessary, and the other shop said $1000 with machining the flywheel. And they said a new flywheel would be $300+.

Does the flywheel, necessarily, need to be replaced/machined if the clutch is slipping?

Thanks a lot for any help, I'm not really familiar with this stuff.

about the fly wheel no one knows what the condition will be like untill they drop the tranny.
hots spots can be machined out, deep groves on the fly wheel well must be replaced.
but on hyraulic clutches their really is no adjustment for free play, machining is a cheap way out, but if your looking for the best job replacement is the answer.
