New Matrix with ?

I have been lurking her for some time now and finally decided to make my first post now that I own a Matrix. My wife needed a new car so I went car shopping couple months ago. I purchased a new 2007 Matrix XR 5speed with all the options. My best friend runs the local Toyota dealership so I knew I was going to get a Toyota. The wife’s requirements were; it has more room than her current civic, manual drive, good gas mileage, and sunroof.
I had her test drive the Matrix, Prius, RAV and Highlander. She liked the Matrix so we went to my buddy to buy one. We could not find one with all the options and 5speed. There was not one in the whole country. All the ones available with all the options had automatic transmission. The wife was adamant that it be a stick drive so we ordered one to be built. It took 60 days, picked it up on last Wednesday. I took it for a 60 mile loop over the weekend and was quite impressed of how it handled around corners. I wish they had the XRS still because I would have bought it. Is there anything that can be done to increase throttle response and possible give it a kick in the pants? I assume many will say cold air intake and exhaust. What have you all tried and what results did you have?
I like the JBL sound system but can not figure out how I’m going to hook up my wife’s ipod. I did some research here about the ipod2car and someone had a post that said that you can set it up in a way that your ipod becomes disk 6. Can anyone help me? Can it be done? Or do I have to replace my HU? I can’t believe this is the upgraded sound system and it does not have an auxiliary input!

welcome to TN and liek you said the most effect modification for you money would be intake, exhaust, and if you think the car handle nice now you def. what to look at some lowering springs. as far the aux port i dont thinkg the HU has changed from 06 to 07, but there is an aux in the back of the radio that can be reached through the glove compartment. and to switch to the aux setting you press the cd button twice on the HU. I got my installed at a local sounds advice. I still dont feel comfortable taking apart my interior. plus it only cost me 60 installed including the purchase of the cable. hope this helps.

i used a system made by peripheral electronics. Its got the ipod dock cable, so it doesn't use the earphone jack. Basically its really easy to install. The back of the CD system is an extra jack designed for a spare CD changers. lots of companies are producing harnesses to plug an ipod into that. best invesment i've made to my matrix.

If you have the factory in-dash 6 CD changer Model A51817 then get yourself the USASPEC PA12-TOY. I just had it installed and it works great - sorry I don't have a DIY because the dealer had it installed for me. They ran the cable under the rug and up through to that little cubby in front of the arm rest (center console). Tucking the cable in and out of the hole is a little bit of a pain but it looks clean (no wires dangling anywhere while driving). I chose direct mode as the playlist mode is a little hokey.

See my other post on this forum.

Good luck!
