Basically, im looking at buying a used Pontiac Vibe ... preferrably Certified Pre-Owned, however that would mean that its from a GM Dealership
but my question is, other than the Body ... whats different between the Vibe and the Matrix? I have a ridiculously limited budget [aka: college student and my mother is paying for the car, but obvioulsy not in full and not in cash]
i dont like the Vibe body or those plastic fenders/bumpers or w/e .... but in terms of mods, can i use the same stuff that all the Matrix guys are using? Do body kits from the Matrix fit on a Vibe, or even the OEM Matrix bumpers/fenders?
do you think its even worth it to get a Vibe, because i love Toyota but its not quite the same...
would it be more expensive to have it serviced at my Toyota dealership rather than the GM dealership across the street [they literally have 4 lanes lanes between them, that is all]
gimme all your thoughts, thnx!
***im also considering the Subaru WRX wagon, the Volvo V40, the Matrix if i can find one for <$11k, and the Chevy HHR ... i basically want a car that i can mod and that is exciting to drive***

I would go with the matrix over the vibe, anything as far body will not fit the vibe if it made for a matrix. but most of the major stuff like the engine and the tranny are all toyota parts, if you can afford a matrix go with the trix alot more out there for it then the vibe, and plus vibes a gayyyyyyyyy. lol

Do you have any cash to put as a down payment? I paid $13.8 for mine, but was able to put $2000 right away, to bring it down to 11K, but tax and tags put financing back over 13. I doubt you're going to find a trix for any cheaper then that, unless ya get one with high mileage. Titanium is right, Vibe parts wont fit a matrix. GM and toyota had gotten together and built it on the same platform, with the same engine, but made them cosmetically differant, ust enough so they dont look exactly the same. No toyota dealer would service it unless it was purchased there, which i doubt would happen with a GM right across the street.

As far as I know, Vibe and Matrix are basically the same car except for extorior (obviously). What I foud is Vibe don't have a very high resale because of the name Pontiac on it.

That's true. When I used to looking for a car, I notice an ad for a Matrix for ridicously low price. So I went there to find out why it is so low. Turns out, the previous owner drove it so much that it already have 190,000 miles on it!
i will only have about $2k to put down ... and ive found the Vibe and Trix for about $11k on autotrader.com
im lookin at like 2004's and older [for all the cars im lookin at]
and i just realized something, Beaman Toyota (the stealership) is attached to the Beaman Pontiac/GMC ... so i might be in luck with the whole service thing

I would prefer the Matrix over the Vibe. The Vibe, to me, looks sort of cheezey (cheap), even though they are basically the same car. The Vibe is downright homely.
Matrix and Vibe are Two Very Different Beasts. They share the same Engine, Transmission AND Dashboard . . . . That`s It. The Vibe has the Famous G M Paint, Steering and Brakes . Pretty Important Stuff I`d Say.

No, the brakes and steering components are the same for the Matrix/Vibe and the Vibe goes down the same assembly line with the same paint shop as the Toyota Corolla made in the Fremont, Calif. NUMMI plant. The Matrix is assembled in a different plant in Canada.
