Problem?

Any XRS 6 speed owners out there encounter slippage while parked on an incline? I noticed this the other day, I parked and a small incline and did not engage the parking brake. I got out and noticed that the car would roll back about a 1/3 of a tire rev then stop and a few seconds later, do it again. Of course I got back in and put on the parking brake, but is this right? Doesn't seem to me.
I know when I was rotating my tires, trying to get the lugs off, the wheel would actually turn and I had to engage the parking brake for it to stay.
Other manual transmission vehicles I have owned have never had this happen.
Do I need to take it in? Potential problem with gear box, transmission, clutch or something???

The car moves forward 1/3 tire rev at a time then stops. This could be the pistons moving up and down on the compression stroke (low compression). A slipping clutch would be constant.

About your Matrix moving after being parked on an incline without the parking brake engaged...I can only assume that you meant that you left your car in either first gear or reverse gear, shut the car off, got out of the car, noticing that it was slowly moving. Yes, this would be normal, depending on the incline it was parked on. Never trust just leaving a vehicle in gear, not using the parking brake. It would also be a good idea to turn the steering wheel toward the right, so if the car were to roll, it would stop itself by bumping the curb. The reason the car rolled, (if my assumption is correct) is because the only thing that is holding your car in its position on the incline is the engine's compression on each individual cylinder. If the incline is too great, what you are doing is turning the engine over very slowly. The second statement about rotation of tires...putting your parking brake on only affects your rear wheels, and not your front wheels. One should always use the parking brake along with leaving the car in first gear when jacking up the car, (after shutting off the engine and removing the ignition keys). It would also be a good idea to chock the wheels on the side of the car that is still on the ground...Hey, Safey First!!!

Thanks, guys. Actually, when I rotated the tires, after engaging that parking brake, the tires didn't move. Either way, I got them rotated.
Thanks again.
