LoL, mb
anywayz
saw on MO.com that u got lots of replies already
im putting mine here
03 XRS 6-speed, I/E
22-28 mpg, about 70% hi-way and 30% street
hitting 'lift' sure hurts gas mileage but it's fun
I have an 04 XRS, it is one month old has 2500 KM on it and I am getting exactly the mileage Toyota advertised, 30 MPG city 42 MPG highway, and that is hitting lift every so often.
I am thrilled with my mileage and they say it will get better once I reach around 5,000 KM!
the turbo diesel volkswagon will
smash those mpg numbers, they
get upwards of like 55-60 mpg on the highway?
people starting modding them
and with the turbodiesel motor
they are cranking out upwards of
600 pounds of torque, just my two
cents, diesel gas is expensive, but
you get the good mpg's. still love my
trix though...
just my two cents....
'03 Matrix XRS
MPG: overall avg (actual) 24 mpg. 28 or so if I'm a good boy and shift at 3500 or 4k.
Transmission: 6 speed manual
Engine: 1.8L 2zz
Driving: Highway/city, About 50% each, maybe 60% hwy.
Well, after 33,000 miles, I am somewhat dissapointed with the MPG around town. I can usually get around 240-300 miles to a tank. However, on the highway, I am getting VERY good gas mileage...around 350-400 to a tank. Of course that is if I keep it betwwen 60-70MPH, no cruise control, and limit my stops to just getting fuel.
I surely could improve my MPG around town if I stay out of the gas, but the way I see it, the car was designed to be driven like I drive it and that is a little lift when passing, merging, or whenever I get the need for it...lol (A K&N would probably help too, but I am afraid my wife will forget to tell the oil changer guys not to mess with the air cleaner. They may throw it out for a new one of thiers).
As far as best mileage goes, the TDI is THE ONLY way to go...(and the torque is kick ass)but the car costs a lot more and the fuel may be harder to find when you really need it. A lot of the gas stations here don't have diesel fuel...you have to look for it.

I have an '05 Matrix that I use for commuting 50 miles to and from work each day, and toodling around town. I don't do enough city driving to calculate city mileage, but on the highway I get 30.5 MPG.
wow...you guys are getting very low mileage. hmmm, wonder why? Mine is pretty low around town but I am merging, passing and driving above the speed limit a lot. But on the highway, I am very impressed. Are you sure the calculations are right? Here is how to do it. Fill the tank all the way, and I mean ALL the way. Take a nice sunday drive around town or on the highway for a couple hours or whatever. Maybe 150-200 miles. Then, go back to THE SAME place where you filled up the first time and fill again. Once again I mean ALL THE WAY full, same as before. Then LOOK AT THE RECEIPT. Divide the amount of gallons into the amount of miles. Example- 300 miles divided by 8 gallons = 37.5
I do have a standard and that does help, but you guys should be getting way better mileage than 21.
