Your car looks pimp!

What is the Matrix called over in Japan? Never knew that JDM parts existed.

Yup, I painted them. JDM is just the term used. All it took was a good part of a day, half in the garage and half in the kitchen (baking them in the oven to loosen the seal).

Well done, looks great! Nice touch painting the additional area by the low beams

Also, looks like you removed the amber reflectors!

Perfect match for your car

The amber refectors are still there. I toned them down by painting a couple of light coats over them. They may be a little too dark, but should be legal and the light shines out the side when they are on. I also have the chromed bulbs that are amber when on, so they don't give off any amber reflection when off.

Thanks for the kind comments everyone.

Looks real good. Nice and clean. I dont have the patience or time to paint em, so I'll just buy the black housing. Quick question tho, where did ya get the CF hood? I've been lookin forever and was told they aren't made anymore. That being said, you may have gotten it before they became discontinued.

I got it from a former Matrix owner who got rid of his car. That's pretty much how you get them these days. There were 2 companies that made them. The one I got wasmade by VIS Racing. It has some wear and tear on it, but I;m looking into what options I have to getting it refinished, possibly a new clear coat over the resin.

Not yet, I hope I don't. I used a clamp and think I got a good seal all around when I put them back together. Time will tell. It's only been 2 days, but it rained on the first and it was OK. Winter in Ottawa will be the real test!

Not being a jerk or anything, but I would call it blacking out the headlight housing rather than JDM. Toyota OEM JDM headlamps have the following qualities:

-Smoked trim piece
-Blue tinted low beam reflector
-Blue tinted high beam reflector
-Louver style slants on turn signal
-Aimed towards the left side of the road

Here's a pic of the Celica's JDM tinted headlamps:

Actually, their is no such thing as JDM for the Matrix. It is only a North America vehicle (and Peurto Rico). There are no parts made in Japan for the Matrix. It's just a term used on MO by most people. I like the JDM headlights for the Celica though. If only their were JDM parts available for the Matrix!
