Buying a matrix!

Hi Guys,

I’m new on the forum and I will buy a new Matrix 2008 tonight. But I’m wondering if I need to take the ECP protection or not. Its 1500$ so what do you think?

I wouldn't bother. But that's just me. It's a Toyota, take the chance!

i have an 05 matrix.. and already had the water pump replaced, transmission leaking (right axle) . My car has only 30,000 Km ! Both were fixed under warranty but I am surprised with premature wear.

Toyota quality are not as good as before.. I know because my family only owned toyotas. As TRX4 said take your chance. If you're keeping the car for a short period of time then ECP is not worth it..

I have never purchased the extended warranty on any of my Toyota products, but I know people who have. I have a female relative that purchased the warranty for a 2000 Corolla...she never used it. Her car has over 140,000 miles now, and I have only had to do normal maintenance on her car, and one clutch, pressure plate/throw-out bearing. All just normal maintenance. I was with her when she bought the car. I tried to talk her out of the extra warranty, but she would not listen. At least she had extra piece of mind for her $1600 that she wasted.

I

purchased the extended on my 2005, it now has 31,000 miles, and so far pretty good. Had to get new tires, factory tires sucked, but all else has been routine maint.

My extended warranty is:
$ 50.00 deductable
Roadside Assistance: $ 100.00 limit per occurance.
It expires in 2012 or at 100,000 miles. Based on my yearly miles, it will expire sometime in 2010. I always get the extended warr, I did need it on a Honda Passport, but that thing was a complete piece of shit, anyways.
