For everybody who has tein stech springs

After installing the stech springs, do you also have to get new shocks or you stuck with stock?

I heard that when lowering you car with lowering springs, it causes alot of stress on the original shocks and they give in in about a few months?

Thanks for any advice in advance cuz i am currently planning to get the stech springs.

Also for winter, did you have to change it up every season?

The stock shocks will eventually blow w/ the S Tech's. You should consider replacing the shocks w/ an aftermarket set. The best alternative seems to be the Tokico HP http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=330106298688

Swapping from stock to aftermarket shocks every season is costly (timely too) unless you can DIY.

How long until the stocks give out? I've had the Stechs on for about 3-4 months now, and haven't noticed a rougher ride.

It's different for everyone. It depends on a variety of terms...road conditions, driving styles/habits, age of vehicle, etc.

Well i have my stech springs on for almost half a year to a year already with my stock shocks and its still running strong. I havent felt a rough ride or anything. The only problem i have is that my steering wheel is shaking when i'm braking so my rotors are warped. I know i need to turn them but thats it. But i think the stock shocks will do for a while.

I know what you are talking about. I had to wait 1000 KM before I got my alignment and steering column recalibrated (to let the springs set in). My brakes have 90% of the pads left, yet I felt the shaking. The steering felt much slower than stockand had complete dead spot in the first 2 inches of turn either way off-center, that caused the car to understeer and feel unpredictable in corners.

Once I got Toyota to do the alignment and tighten the steering column and rack up, it steers very directly and precisely just like it did stock.

I had H-Techs on my XRS for 9 months now on stock XRS shocks. The shocks are as good as brand new so far. With lower center of gravity, it can go scary fast around highway turns while staying very neutral and stable.
