I was on the way to the airport last night, and on the freeway, lane merges, and i didn't cut in or anything, just simply follow the line and merge.....
then this truck (GMC, black) came out of nowhere and start tailing and high beam on me....
and i had a big rig and a van in front of me, so i use the break to slow down, and i guess he took that as aggresive...so i change to the rightest lane, and try to pass the big rig. He then try to speed up and use the soulder to pass me, and also pushed me and tru to speed up and run after it; and look! hit me and try to run.........
luckily i push the little matrix to 6000 rpm redline and got his plate number. called the cops, filed report, and called the insurance company......
but still...........my little 2 weeks old baby now looks like this......
now, does it hurt the engine if i was using over drive and got to 6000rpm for merely couple seconds (the redline is 6400rpm)? the car just broken 1,000 miles on it.
sorry to hear about that. people are crazy in L.A., as far as hurtin the engine i dont think it will do anything 1000 miles should be fine if you only hit it for a while
Hey man so sorry to hear about your encounter with that sub-human. But unfortunately the driver talent and courtesy has been dropping like a rock over the past 30 years. As for the cops, they're sometimes the worst offenders. I've rode with cops during lunch hour that acted like they were in hot pursuit. When I dare to point out that their doing 80mph in a 45mph and little kids are playing in the yards, I get the standard BS "We professionally trained". Well I'm professionally trained, raced and held a track record, and IMHO these guys are verging on incompetent. It really seems like enforcement of speed and other traffic laws are at best sporadic. In fact I've just about given up riding my motorcycle, just one too many close calls by some hair brain on a cell phone! HANG UP THE DAMN PHONE AND DRIVE!!
To Swmatrixxx:
Yes, I have full insurance, so it will be covered. However, I have self deductable for 1,000. so the insurance only pays for the rest amount......kinda sucky, but oh, well, at least they promise to give me back the 1,000 if they can get the other guy's insurance to pay. and at this point, i don't know who the drive is, since the car has tint window as well. don't know if it is a 'her' or 'him'
To SailorMan:
Sorry to hear that bro. I guess we are all human. And human take things for granted. Let's just hope my car get fix as new, so I can still keep it and modify it after the warranty expires.
Also, lucky my bro isn't hurt. He was in passanger seat at the time.
so I guess one good thing came out of it........
CRUSH RATING TEST LIVE PATCH 1.1 ----------- APPROVED!
for the motor, most motors have a break in period of about 500 miles. since you are around 1000 miles, your motor has been broken in enough already that taking it up to redline for the brief time that you did wont hurt it. i used to redline my 90 camry all the time (redline @ 6000, rev limiter at 6500). i would run it up to 6499 or somewhere close to that to shift every time when i was beating on it, and the car went quite well.
as for your insurance getting the $1000 deductible paid back to you if they can get in touch with the other person's insurance, keep in close contact with your insurance company. i am not saying they are crooked, but if they get the money from the other person's insurance, there is a good chance that they may forget to forward it on to you.
