what r the grooves in the back for?

Hi, I'm new to the forum. My fiancee is getting a matrix in 2 weeks and I can't really figure out what the grooves in the rear cargo area on the floor are for. I've done a lot of searches here and all over the web, even toyota homepage, and can't find anything. Any ideas?

Those grooves are tracks. Within those tracks you can screw-in these things w/ "loops" (I don't know how else to describe the thing you screw in to the tracks.)
So basically, you can tie down stuff using bungee cords or the supplied straps to these screw-in loops.

those tracks are SOOO usefull... if you didnt have them shit would slide all over the place.... unless you put a carpet in :/
