Matrix gas mileage...

so is everyone indeed getting great gas milage with their Trix? my wife and I have an '07 XR and it gets the estimated 34MPG highway.... we like it soo much that I just got me an '05 XRS! man that thing hauls ass and I get about 32-33 MPG highway... However, I ask because I have a coworker who has an '06 base model and he says it's a POS! which makes me laugh because it's a TOYOTA man! you cannot go wrong wit these cars. atleast from my own experience... what does everyone think? let me know... thanks!

The dbw intake is very sensitive to driving style. I have gotten anywhere from 20-37 mpg average over a full tank of driving.

Currently getting about 32miles/gallon in mixed highway/local driving on my '07 XR.

'05 XR 2WD Automatic:

Even in crappy traffic, I've never gotten less than 30 mpg. On open highway with minimal to no running of A/C or heat, I've gotten better than 36 mpg. This is driving at 65-70 mph. My gas mileage does taper off somewhat if I consistently do higher than 70, though, or if the A/C is blasting, but we're still talking 34-35.

That being said, I don't know why the fuel-efficiency guidelines for the Matrix were recently lowered as they have been for all cars. I found the window sticker even then to actually be on the low end of what I typically get.

08 Matrix XR 5 speed

I'm working on my third tank and I've gotten 38, 39 and 40 miles a gallon. Remember though, that is with the "British" gallon measurement that is a bit larger. If this car gets better after its broken in I'll be even happier.

I get around 550+ km before the light comes on. Not bad for the 4WD.

I got new rims and tires today (17", 235/50r17) and hopefully it won't affect the milege much.

im not sure..but im NOT getting great mileage with my Matrix..my normal route I get about 23-24 mpg its a mix of town and a bit of open road...my 03 camry with a 2.4 gets about 26 on the same route....im almost ready to get rid of it even......I KNOW its not my driving style or where I drive as I have an 03 camry also that actually gets BETTER mileage driving the same exact route and same exact driving style....so what can be the cause of an 03 matrix getting low gas mileage??...its not poor maintenance or low air pressure in tires OR driving style.....I am confused as how some in here are saying the get such great mileage?? HOW can you be getting like 35-40 MPG Ever in a vehicle such as this with an automatic?
