if it,s true that some pontiac vibe drive trains are the same as some matrix,s here,s a question=
alot of folks on the generation vibe.com forum are going nuts with clutch issuses. are you guys having problems with matrix clutches? if so, what,s the cure?
The XRS has experienced the worst of it. The cure is a stronger aftermarket clutch.
I'm just wondering what clutch issues are involved with the XRS Matrix? I own an XRS and have had no problem...at least not yet. I have also read in a earlier post, that the XRS with the 6-speed trans may have problems. Again, my XRS seems flawless. It shifts smooth and easy.
i am wondering when people (what miliage) are having trouble with there tranys
and what exactly is failing
on my 06 xrs with 20k since day one it is a bit tough to go into 3rd, but i can skip shift and use other gears
never skip around when up shifting.. always go inorder.. it could mess up your tranny faster.. each gear your in.. sets up the syncros for the next gear.. when you start to skip gears.. that could mess up your syncros faster.. or something like that
Yeah, Ive got over 12,000 miles on mine now, and it really is still as smooth as silk. I have had absolutely no problems with the car, thats including the 6-speed transmission. I really love driving that 6-speed. It reminds me so much of a 600cc Jap sport bike...the way one always has to have it on the cams to make it come alive. If I only had the money to buy a Lotus Elise, (life would be fantastic), but now life is just GOOD!
i have a 2003 xrs with about 72k. i got it used about 7 months ago, and i havent had any issues with the clutch other than adjusting to it grabbing off the floor.
as for skipping gears, i used to do it in my 90 camry, but i also learned how to shift without the clutch. it seems to me that for regular daily driving, it works better to skip gears. i often go first to third to fifth. just shift slower and let the stick slide into place instead of forcing it.

why would you do that???
I wouldn't want to ride in a car with you

that is only for my city driving when i am not in a hurry or out to have fun. when i want to play, i dont shift until redline, and i run the gears sequentially.
i am looking at getting a clutch later on for my car though. im not sure whether to go with a centerforce or exedy yet, but i think i will go with one of those 2...unless somebody will support my cause and support me financially to get the same clutch that goes into a porsche carrera gt, which is only some little 6 inch ceramic thing
