USA TYC tails

Yesterday I finally bought the TYC tail lights in the black housing. I cant wait to get em installed. I also purchased LED front and rear turn signal bulbs. I think they will really compliment the new housing. I'm still debating if I should go LED for the whole rear of the car. I'll post some pics when I get em in.

Update!!

I know its been a while posting for me, just thought I'd fill in case anyone's been wondering where I've been. My laptop took a shit, go Gateway. Had to be sent out for repair. 4-6 weeks est. rollaround time and I'm still waiting.

The TYCs I bought STILL didn't come in yet. I'd had enough, and finally called. It turns out that the company I bought them through out of CA can't get hold of them. The customer service person I talked to said something about TYC discontinuing the black finish (but not the chrome and CF) and that he'd get back to me if they can find them in other distribution centers in the area. So now I still wait, but told him as a last resort to see if I can get the CF in place of the blacks. Not entirely what I wanted, but now its a good excuse to get a CF hatch made so it matches After all this trouble, I'm gonna see if I can get the shipping costs refunded, and maybe even a discount on the lights, since they aren't what I ordered, we'll see.

The CF ones cost a little more, like $10 or something, so you'll prolly get that savings, but good luck. I originally wanted the blacks too, but found the CF ones used, so I took them. Since then, I've added the CF hood and CF'd my front emblem and CF'd under the rear emblem that I've painted black.

I'm prob gonna paint the Toyota emblems front and back gloss black. CF hoods are pricey, so that'll have to wait. Did you have to drill for the pins, or was it good without. The ones I've seen "claim" that the supports and hinges are strong enough so ya don't need the pins.

Well, I think about 3 of the 10 MatrixOwners I know with CF hoods have lost them due to a weak hook/latch. I don't think it's worth it. I bought the hood used from a fellow MOer. I had to drill one hole on the drivers side. The other side lined up perfectly. The original owner had done the same on his 03 Matrix. The pins aren't very expensive and are a peace of mind if nothing else. My hood is made by VIS Racing in California. If you buy from a manufacturer that states you don't need pins, get a written warranty that it will be fully covered, cost and shipping, plus all other damages caused such as smashed windshield, death of a passanger or person in another vehicle killed as a result of the hood flying off, etc. I think you get my point. Don't take a chance!

I was thinking about doing the same thing. do you think you'll prime it first? also how will you just paint the emblem and not the rest of the car?

The emblems are just held in with plastic pins. They pop right out. I tried a test spray on my front emblem, but the paint didn't dry completely and I touched it and messed it up. I sanded the paint off so its back to chrome again, but I'll be doing that again in the near future. No primer is nessisary as long as you sand it down a little so the paint has something to adhere to.
