xr vs xrs

I test drove the XR and XRS today. I have been told and read that at lower rpms, you really can't thell the difference, and the XRS only shines above 5500. Well I must be crazy, because i felt a noticeable difference when taking off in first gear, and when shifting to each succeeding gear. The XRS seemed appreciably faster to me at all rpms. What has anyone else noticed about the difference

I've spent a lot of time behind the wheel of both XR and XRS models and I agree with you fully.

The XRS is almost a second and half faster 0-60 then the XR and that's found in the first two gears.

That said, I just got back from taking a XR with TRD supercharger for a spin and it's awesome. 38ft.lbs more torque at 4000rpm really gives that car some needed pick-up in the lower RPM's. I'm not 100% convinced that it's worth the extra money but it sure has improved the performance on the XR. TRD claims a 7.5 0-60 sime which is a full .6 faster then XRS which is substantial. I guess the biggest benefit is the fact that you've still got warranty coverage.

It is, not sure what the price is in the US. I'd try www.trdhotwired.com

I think they had them for $2995.

It's at 6200rpm in the XRS that makes the difference when the VVTL-i kicks in.

The TRD SC is going for $2640US @ Carson Toyota.
