European Union Can 2008 Matrix be registred in Europe?

I am temporary living in USA and considering buying and bringing to Europe Toyota Matrix 2008 model. I do not trust dealer's advice, so decided to ask in the forum - does Toyota Matrix meet European specification? I mean different lights, brake standards etc. So far I have heard different opinions, but also not from professionals. Thanks in advance!

i am not a professional, so you shouldn't listen to me, but from things i have seen and heard, i would think that a car that meets the specs for USA should meet specs for Europe. i think that european standards are not as stringent or strict as US standards.

again, i am no professional, so my opinion doesnt really mean much here.

I am sure that there are differencies in lights, brakes and even seat belts. Front lights for example are directed more down in Europe, turn indicators must be yellow etc
