Yah, I guess Im gonna drop by over my reading week to check out the Matrix.

Their claim of versatility, style and performance makes the Matrix sound like a good fit for me.

But I'd wait, I wouldnt get a 1st year model. Especially, since its a totally new model. I'll wait till the 2nd year its out (after they fix some bugs).

Sport Compact Car pursuaded Toyota to custom build them a preproduction prototype Matrix- and they have already tuned the hell out of it swapping in Celica parts...
Its got an XS Engineering turbo, intake, intercooler, exhaust manifold, fuel system, and downpipe, Progress coil-overs, Sparco seats, Stoptech brakes with Volk wheels.

I smell 250 drive wheel hp with 7psi boost on pump gas...Celica owners beware...

That SCC Matrix is gonna be beast, but how many Matrix buyers can afford all of that?

For now, I dont think Celicas gotta worry about the stock Matrix (or even the XRS top model).

A test drive will tell.

I asked for the Matrix yesterday at Richmond Hill Toyota (Toronto). It will arrive this week. It cost about $25,000 CND.

Also the new Corolla will arrive next month in Toronto.

They're both here. The Matrix is well built and the door slams solid! Fit and finish is well above par for a car of that price. I still prefer the Vibe GT looks wise tho. Engine bay is VERY clean. No clutter, no excess wires, etc. And there's lots of room for a FMIC.

Didn't check out the new Corolla but it was there. Matrix was more appealing in my opinion. But at 400lbs heavier than a comparable GTS, taller gearing...the Matrix is a 'pooch'. Definently needs a turbo or S/C. No AWD with the GTS motor either...sigh...

Optitron Electronic gauges like the Lexus ones too! Impressive! Wish I kind of waited in buying my Cam...

I agree with SE V6, just went to see Matrix and new Corolla today and I must say the Matrix is more attractive.

The new corolla seem to be higher quality than the old ones, but the cabin is a little bit high for a small car.

I was amazed by the size of the cabin of the Matrix, rear seats are way roomier than I expected. Headroom for both front and rear are extremely tall even for a 6'2" guy like me. Dash is sporty and attractive, all the buttons/knobs are laid well.

s posted in the Corola forum,

I just got my new Matrix Thursday, already planning lots of mods, love it too! I am very impressed with how well it handle being so tall, will be lowered soon with bigger wheels as well.
This is my show car for my business and a daily driver, just like my 96 Tacoma featured in this months Mobile Entertainment, only this one will be alot more custom and flashy. The tacoma was built for usability and street class IASCA, the Matix is being built to a much higher level of showability but still have plenty of usefulness in daily driving.
Nice forum by the way, my first post, will be back

Here is a bit what I will have in the matrix or at least trying to stuff into it and still have alot of cargo room.

-4 IDMAX 10'
-4 Arc Audio 1500 DRs
-2 Arc Audio 4150 CXLRs
-Rainbow Reference in kick panels
-2 or 4 IDX62 midbasses in the doors
-ID One processor when available
-Apline 7999 HU, when out, now using 7969
-DVD, X Box, several monitors
-Batcap 800's

Hey RAAMaudio... are you the guy that sells the "no-name" Dynamat X-Treme on ebay? I don't know if you remember me talking to you over the Fall about our Camry club. I had also bought 2 rolls off you. hehe and you spoke to me for about 45 min long distance from your cell phone!

If this is you, welcome to the forum! I'm still waiting for the warm weather to finish installing your mat, but Dickson has installed your mat from here already.

Talk to you soon!

Thanks, that would be me I have hundreds of great customers all over the net, just need to finally get my web site up and running! Working on a shopping basket that will allow for fair shipping charges to each area as the mat is rather heavy and I am all the way at the bottom of the West Coast. I have been wanting to do performance mods to my Tacoma but never got around to it. Now my Matrix is getting alot of attention at a tuner, prototyping some cool stuff for it, should be very fast in the near future!!!
