Canada Rev Problem?

Hi,
I've a 2004 Matrix XRS, and recently I've been having a problem in each gear, it seems when I push on the gas it revs high and I don't accelerate. Eventually I'll pick up speed, but it's with marginal pushing down on the gas pedal, to ensure it doesn't run away with the revs. If I really hammer down on the gas to try and accelerate it just red-lines, and the smell of burnt cluch (I'm assuming). It has 108Km on it, and suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Shane

Stick or auto? Does the engine rev up when you push on the pedal but the car does not accelerate?

It's a stick, and yes it revs up without accelerating when I push on the gas

The problem is the clutch is slipping badly. It is either worn out or not fully engaging and needs adjusting. This is why you smell some burnt clutch when you rev the engine to high; the clutch is heating up because of the friction as it slips.

Normal clutch life in these cars is 100K unfortunately. The one bad part of the XRS. Weak clutches that only last 100K. Whatever you do, don't put another OEM one in. Go to www.matrixowners.com and search all about aftermarket clutches for the XRS.

It does sound like your toast. Mine original clutch lasted 53000km and replaced it with an RPS Sport Series w/ Street disc. http://www.turboclutch.com/sport.html

With my driving style, I should have gone stronger because my clutch is slipping again (currently at 174000km).

I'm pretty set on getting the South Bend Clutch. http://www.dxdracingclutches.com/home.html The guys on newcelica.org are giving it good reviews and recommendations. *************.com are currently having a group buy on it at really good prices. I'll probably bite in the next few wks. http://www.*************.com/forum//...ad.php?t=67761

EDIT: lol. It's funny how matrixowners.com isn't censored but n e w c e l i c a . o r g (first censor) and 9 t h g e n c o r o l l a . c o m (2nd censor) is!
