On colder mornings (low to mid teens), I hear a squealing from the engine. The current belt is only 18 months old. Once the engine heats up a little the noise goes away. It didn't do this last winter that I can remember. Anyone have any suggestions?

What's the shelf life on these belts? When I bought my trix in June of 06, it started happening every time I started the car, took it to the dealer and they replaced it no questions asked. Now that my warranty is up, (and has been), what can I expect to pay for something like this?

that's strangeyou guys have this problem with the matrix. I've a 92' camry 5sfe(127,000mi), and it only squeals if I go in a deep puddle, and even then it does for just a few seconds.

just change it dude, its easy and takes 20 mins with a helper, a 19mm wrench and a strong arm. there is a how to somewhere on the site, its pinned at the top of the forum i believe. it will take a few mins longer if you have no helper. i did mine on the side of the road in louisiana. LOL. mine went after 30,000 miles...but those are salty miles in upstate NY.
the belt is $20 at autozone, but if you go gatorback, shouldnt be more than $50, i just threw an autozone brand on for the time being, i was on the side of the interstate at the time and just wanted what they had at the next exit. when its time to replace again, i will go gatorback as well.
