Just a thought for the BSE model and XR peps

Hello All
Just wondering if anyone has tried a ECU out of the Corolla S?
Same chassis, same motor but they get an extra 15 hp.
I figure it must be in the ignition timeing and fuel maps.
I have a 03 auto Bse model that I have started modding and just figured it might be something to look into.
This is my family ride ,but I can't leave well anuff alone.
It's a curse.

Huh?

Base/XR = 130hp
Corolla S = 130hp

They're both rated at 130hp.

Hello again
I was under the impression that the Corolla S had 145.
That is what Toyota was specing it out to be at the dealer.
16.4 w/ 145hp is the exact figure the are/were puting out.
I dunno?
I know the celica gt and mrs are also 145 so I am just trying to find out the diffrences in ecu's pin outs since they are the same motor.
Be awfull nice to just change out the ECU an gain an extra 15 wouldn't it.
Well, C-YA!!

Check out toyota.com, all the Corolla models have the same engine rated at 130hp @6000rpm & 125 lb ft of torque.
http://www.toyota.com/vehicles/2004/corolla/specs.html
The MR2 Spyder has 138hp @ 6400rpm & 125 lb ft. of toruqe.
http://www.toyota.com/vehicles/2004/...der/specs.html

I don't think it's worth it to get a new ECU for 8 hp, plus the 1ZZ-FE in the Matrix & Corolla are probably under rated @6000rpm instead of 138hp @6400rpm like the MR2 b/c Toyota wants to make it look like the MR2 has a stronger engine.

An intake & exhaust would give you more cost effective power than a new ECU.

Sounds like your dealer is loading the BS on you.

The 1ZZ in the Matrix IS underrated. It's the exhaust system that's hindering its performance.

Just as an FYI, Corolla guys have tried using the Celica GT ECU, but it doesn't plug in. Its Toyota engineering BS, why the fuck would you make two different harnesses for 3 different cars that use the same tranny/engine combos? Makes no sense to me.

Oh, and the difference between the Celica GT 1ZZ and the Corolla 1ZZ is the intake manifold/ecu/exhaust header. The rest is the same.

I agree 110% with you there. was curious one night and popped my head under the rear of the car to look at how the pipe was run on mine and there is on hell of a corner that you have to figure that it cuts the flow by 50%. dont know why they just didn't put an elbow in there instead of bending the hell outta the pipe.
