match your rims with your car, and go with what looks good. i have an 03 xrs in black sand pearl. i havent decided which rims i am going to get for sure yet, but whatever it ends up being, i won't have the machined lip, as i hate that. i do plan on getting black rims. i am also considering getting some neon lights for my wheels, but that is a story for another day. i have other things first to do.

just a few rims i am considering for my car...look here

Don't get the Rota Torque. The 5x100 versions they have are +48 offset specifically suited for Imprezas.

Here's the wheel specs for the OEM 16" and 17" rims.

Generally when upsizing wheels, you want to widen the stance from stock to improve handling or in other words, get a set that pushes the wheels outwards from the car. The Rota Torque technically fits but improvements to handling would be minimal.

You can use this link to calculate the change in dimensions and specs from OEM to your selected. http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp

A lot of owners have gone the route of an 8" width rim and +35 offset.

My Rays Gram Lights 57C are 17x7.5 +30 offset.

And I'm dying to put them back on. Can the snow disappear already?!

lol, my car has been in summer mode for the last 2 months on the westcoast!

+42 offset with 5mm spacers on rear = +37 offset

+35 offset with 5mm spacers on rear = +30 offset

+30 is good for the front......but the rear........could be as low as +20

btw, my car is sitting on eibach sportlines
