2003 Matrix XRS

Hello everyone, I am thinking about purchasing a 2003 Matrix XRS, 6spd, 1 owner, with
41,000 miles on it. Is there anything that I should look out for or should be aware of????? I
would appreciate any input.
Thanks!!!

Check out the clutch. Check for sludge in the oil in case it was abused and not changed regularly.

As long as it wsnt beaten on, your good.. Proper maintainace will carry a toyota a looong way. I just dropped a new shortblock in my 04 XRS due to a faulty ConRod bearing in the crank. Oviously my motor was not properly mantained, bought it with 42k 1 owner and starting having problems at 50k. I believe with a combination of poor oil ( and possibly lack of ) and a rough break-in period, the motor was destined for this with my white nuckled fingers around the shifter. These are great cars but come with high matainace, alwas use high grade fuel, No Exceptions with high compression. Snythetic oil after break-in, Always at level. And beyond that, I woulnt worry about rust too much where u are and the year of the vehicle.

Get the lift bolts checked (early 2000 2ZZ issue that was fixed with 2nd generation lift bolts in 04), make sure the clutch is strong and the transmission does not have any grinds.

Get it. 2ZZ-GE is a great motor and a free-revving fun motor. I have had my Rolla XRS for almost 4 years with zero problems and I take it to the track once in a while and rev up to 8400 rpm every chance I get.

p.s. I use synthetic mobil 1 for engine oil and redline MT-90 for transmission.
