the vehicle usually depends on the purpose. for a lot of snow and ice, many have gone with the AWD matrix XR for 03-08. for 09, it is the 'S' instead of XR, but AWD is optional there too. also, getting a vehicle depends on your budget, and is not consistent on pricing everywhere.
when it comes to upgrading the matrix, it becomes more expensive to add things like turbo or supercharger than to get something like a subaru wrx that already has the turbo.
