a rec if anyone is looking for bike carrier/rack

Thought I would give a bit of advice back to the forum. I know there have been a few threads on bike racks/carriers for the Matrix.

I will preface this by saying I was pretty much opposed to putting a hitch on and really didn't want to have to put my bike on the roof so trunk/hatch mounted was all I looked at.

We initally bought Thule Speedway (i believe that was the name). Put it on the Matrix, used it a couple of times and just in general drove around with it attached. Didn't seem real stable and we had some noise where the hooks strapped on.

Had done some other research and decided to give the Saris Bones RS a try. Granted it is approx 100 dollars more than all other similar set ups. But wow...so much more stable, connects to the vehicle in a much better fashion. Less straps, etc.

Just thought i would put the FYI and my opinion out there..

Why are you opposed to put a hitch on your car?
Get a hidden hitch, they make one for the trix with f/x and one for without it. You barely see it

here is a link to the product...no pictures of it on the matrix yet. there are a few around on the internet if you search

http://www.saris.com/p-301-bones-rs.aspx

as far as the hitch goes it is not so much opposed to the hitch itself as i don't like the big clunky bike rack that goes into the receiver. it is a personal preference. i just post this in case anyone else is looking for a trunk/hatch rack.

FYI...I was told the "Hidden Hitch" for the Matrix is on national backorder. Not expected to ship until end of this month (April). Been waiting for 3 weeks now.....
