Good deal? (matrix 2008)

Hi everybody!
I am new here and I want to buy a matrix.

I found a private seller, who wants to sell her matrix 2008 XR automatic for 18300 Can$. It has 8000 km on it and is 7 month old.

She has to sell the car because she is apparently moving.

That will be my first car..and if I decide to buy this car...I would bring it to a place for inspection first.
Please let me know, what you think about this deal.

How much more would a '09 be?
Also the dealers are probably deeply discounting the leftover '08s on the lots and probably offering very low financing which would save lots of $$ in the long run

If you look around at the autotrader, you'll find that 08's are still quite expensive. That sounds like quite a good deal... if the inspection passes.

I'm not sure what an automatic is going for but I bought my 2008 5 sp, with sunroof, 6-cd changer, sport package, etc for $17,027 in Nov. I would think with the '09s out and dealer incentives that you could do better but I don't know the availability in your area etc.

We bought an 08 Xr automatic with sunroof, 6CD, etc. last November for 16,700 US$. I'm not sure what a used 08 is worth in Canada, but I would be hesitant about why someone would sell a 7 month old car. An inspection is a good idea, but it may not reveal all possible problems. Just be sure to carefully check it out.

as always,, reason for selling is moving out of the country, moving,, got a company car etc. etc...... I guess she did'nt see it coming 7 months ago eh ?

I will certainly get it inspected.. ownership history, accidents etc...

sounds fishy...
