2004 Toyota Matrix Transmission Replacement
Hey, I'm new here and I have a 2004 Toyota Matrix 5-speed base model with 145,000 miles on it. Yesterday the transmission went out and I was wondering if anyone on here has ever replaced one themselves and how hard it is.
I also have been looking for at and pricing out transmissions and it seems that the auto's are a-dime-a-dozen. I found one locally for 100 bucks. If I were to buy an auto trans would it be an easy conversion or is it something that requires parts beyond just the transmission and gear selector knob and such?
I am a semi-experienced BMW mechanic and I am confident in doing anything if it can be done without too much work.
Basically...
Can a new 5-speed by dropped in by a semi-experienced very confident mechanic?
Could I swap an auto in instead?
