Matrix / Cruise Control

My Father has a 2005 Matrix and he getting a new one. I am going to buy the 2005 because I need a second car and it only has 20k on it. He bought a car with no cruise control because he never drives on the highway. I want the car to specifically drive on the highway because it gets good gas mileage. Can it be fitted with cruise control after the fact? I am assuming it functions from the wiper control and not the wheel. Thanks in advance.

The cruise control actually has its own arm.

yes, you can add cruise after the fact. I think the part (control arm) is about $80... plus install

The gen vibe forum you need to register for, but it has more detailed instructions with pictures. The vibe has the same setup as the corolla.

I used to have an 07 Corolla, bought the parts, but never did the install before someone hit me and totalled the car. Good luck

Hmmm, I saw the stuff on thecruisecontrolstore.com, and for some reason the 03-04 Matrix is more expensive that the 05 and later. I wonder what's up with that. Is it really as simple as adding the cruise control stalk?

03-04 is cable-throttle and it actually needs a lot more stuff to be installed.
05+ is electronic throttle, and the ECU controls everything, all you need is the switch to be installed.

I did this 2 years ago on my 05. Cut the hole and plugged the stalk in, then installed a clutch cutout switch, and voila! Cruise control.

Also works for factory fogs, the switch, and variable delay wipers...which I also installed myself.

I miss the power windows and mirrors my last car had tho

Be Careful, 2005 and 2006 models with all wheel drive are still cable driven, not drive by wire. Make sure you check before ordering the wrong parts !!!!
