Is the V-flex damaged?

Okay, I feel really stupid. My daughter just got a 2003 Matrix XR AWD. Except that the AWD part didn't sink into my brain, until I had towed it on a dolly for 8 miles.

When my mind caught up with what I was doing, I stopped on the highway and unbolted the driveshaft. Mmmm, could have roasted marshmellows on the diff!!! Not really, but it was really really hot.

Today I changed the diff fluid.

I still need to tow it about 500 miles, so the driveshaft is still disconnected. Is there some static torque measurement test that I can do to determine the viability of the V-flex Coupling, such as put a torque wrench on the pinion flange and try to measure torque to rotate, with the rear tires fixed by the parking brake?

Any advice or workshop quote will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Rich
