I'm new in this community but I'm sure I'll get the help I need. I know I'll maybe bring back older thread but my case is for the Trix TRD edition 2007 wich seems to have different mods possibility then the others (For example the CAI).
As for a little history, I went from a Toyota MR2 '87 to this '07 Matrix TRD to have something a little bigger. But I'm willing to change the look of my car. I've been searching this forum and dealers of aftermarket parts for information on the mod for a '07 but I can't seem to find anything really. So I have a few questions for you guys.
First, As for the CAI, is it true that only the cosmo model fits on the '07 model or does the inen/fujita that's supose to fit the '03 and up will fit? I don't want to spent the bucks and the troubles buying something that won't even fit. Would it be better if I take A short ram instead?
As for the exaust system. I have a friend that has the borla model on his Yaris and I juste love the sound of it. But the exaust system isn't the same from a Yaris to a Matrix and I was wandering if there's a Borla model or something that sound like that for my Matrix (even if it's the TRD part) and if the exaust's tip can come in other model (something like a double small tip).
And finally, is there carbon fiber hood available?
Yes Borla does make an exhaust for the trix, and I'm pretty sure it's for 03-07 models. I bought the cat-back for $350 plus shipping but I got it through a friend and I got a little discount.
That is the cheapest I've found online. I like the tip and it's not ricey at all. The tone is deep, not an obnoxious whine you hear out of some exhausts. As for the CAI, I can't help you, but I know others here can. I only have an AEM SRI.

Installing aftermarket parts do not void the warranty unless the said part installed is directly responsible for a failed component that IS covered. For example, since CAIs sit low in the engine bay, they can possibly suck up water into your engine, which would then cause engine failure. That would void the warranty on your engine. From what I've heard from other CAI owners, you'd have to drive through a HUGE puddle of standing water for this to happen. My SRI sits high in the engine bay and therefore away from roadway water. I'd probably have to submerge the front end before there would be any damage to it, but then I have bigger problems, not just concern for my intake.

Hey razin, I see you're in Gatineau. We had a meet last night and a couple of Celica's from Gatineau came. Check out the meets section here for the next one, probably in about a month. You'll see all kinds of ways mod your Matrix.
check out www.matrixowners.com for more stuff, but i believe that the TRD edition matrix was offered in canada but not the US. As i recall looking, the TRD edition is still using the 1ZZ-FE for the motor, same motor as the base and XR models. with that being said, i suggest the SRI for the 1ZZ. an easy way to tell is when you look at the letters on the cover on top of the motor in the engine bay, if it says VVTL-I, that is the 2ZZ motor that comes in the XRS. if it is VVT-I, that is the 1ZZ motor.
carbon fiber hoods are available for the matrix. there are only about 2 or 3 styles available though. AIT N1 is one that has a hood scoop. i have seen some that are just like the stock hood as well, and i cant remember for sure if i have seen another design, but i am pretty sure i have that has a different hood scoop. a good carbon fiber hood will cost you about $500 minimum plus shipping and shipping will cost a small fortune on those because they are so big.

My hood in my sig is CF. And yes, the TRD edition is a base Matrix with a bunch of goodies thrown in. A SRI is probably your best bet as the later model 1zz's run too lean with a CAI and you'll encounter CEL's.
I ordered the borla exhaust system from vividracing just to know that this exhaust is no longer produced by Borla making it unavalaible to buy.
I'm still looking. If someone knows a place where I can buy it and if they can ship to Canada, I'll be please. Also, does the 180 HP (XRS I think) model fit on the base model?

slight modification to flange if it's an axle back and it should, but you can also go with a weld on universal muffler from magnaflow or borla for half that
