Stock Tire Replacements?

It is a well established fact thet the conti's are less than acceptable tires.

I need a little help with the replacments. Can anyone suggest an affordable 16" tire for my 06 matrix [205, 55, 16] ? we live it UT so an all season is needed and we dont need a super high performance tire, just a solid, long lasting relicable tire that is quiter than the contis and wont break the bank. tghat may be alot to ask for, but lets see.

Thanks for your help!

I second the Hankooks, they are a decent tire for the money.

I almost bought them but end up with the Michelin Hydro edges but they were allot more $$$
I just basically chickened out and went with e known....

go to a local les schwab tire place. they have tires in that range, and also, they will do free rotate, balance, pressure checks, and little maintenance things like that on wheels with their tires at any of their stores.

I know I'm late, but I replaced the Goodyear Eagle RSA's that came with my Matrix XS with
Michelin - Energy™ MXV4® Plus

Great all season tires, and were a sweet deal at Costco.

If you want something that lasts, check for Michelin Harmony or Goodyear FuelMax. They are both silent and will last for a long time.

Replacement Tires

I also installed the Michelin Hydro Edge. I do not know if they are 4 season or not. These tires are a little more expensive but I think they are rated at 60,000 miles. Anyway I really like these tires. Read about them on Tire Rack.

I've got 47k miles on my OEM Goodyear Eagle RSA's & they still have a fair amount of tread left. I also have the same tire that came on my 09 Corolla S. I went with 17" tires on that at 7k miles so I kept the tires to put on my Matrix when the original tires need to be changed out. I've been very happy with the performance of the RSA's in dry & wet weather.

I was told great things about the General Exclaim UHP & I bought them for my Corolla in a 17" size but they have been fantastic. They are very quiet & perform really well in the wet & dry, much better than the stock RSA too.
