USA Lowering Springs

Hey guys i have some questions about lowering my Trix. I like the way it rides now, will lowering it make it ride alot stiffer or will it ride the same just lower. What is the best brand for springs and how much better will she handle. Thanks guys

When you go lower, you will definitely notice a difference. You will sacrifice ride quality for looks. I noticed a difference as soon as I got behind the wheel after lowering mine, but I didn't go with aftermarket shocks as some people do. There are many different brands of springs, Eibach & Tein are the two most common I can think of off the top of my head. Handling will be better as the car's center of gravity is lowered, but its also better to add a strut tower brace and sway bars if you really want to notice an increase of performance.

In your opinion is it worth it? Hey this is off topic but i noticed in your sig you had the AEM sri, did you notice any gains from that?

I think it was worth it. That wheel gap was very annoying with the 16" steelies...But now that I've got 17s on, plus lowered, it looks waaay better. The ride doesn't suffer so much unless I'm going over railroad tracks or the occasional speed bump. Then I might scrape a little. I've been in some cars where it would feel smoother driving a cement block down the road then with their coil-over setup. It was a noticeable rough ride at first, but I got used to it pretty quick.

As far as the SRI goes, you do notice a little bit more gains as far as low-end power is concerned, as opposed to a CAI which is supposed to give more top end power. If I had an XRS, I would have gotten a CAI to feel more 'lift' (which I've yet to experience XRSers...tell me what its like!) But now that gas is hovering around $4.06, I'm glad I didn't buy the XRS. Premium gas would kill me

Yeah that gaps starting to annoy me to. Is their any difference with the brands of springs and their ride? Maybe you can help me understand something, why does the sri make more low end tq and the cai make more top end??

Thumbs up

If I can get in ur discution I got 05 XRS with sri but since I did not find any intake made for my car I got universal from ebay and put it on. The sound is great! I;m not sure about horse gain thou...may be a little but it is insignificant I think. Also I put TEIN S on my car with the original 17s I had on it and it looks a lot better! Its true that the hole for the fenders is way too big! Anyway, I dont know about the strud bar...I am not racing my car so I decided for now I dont need it. May be if one day I find cheaper turbo for it The difference in the ride is not that big and its true, u dont need much time to get use to it. Especialy whe u see these bigger cars swinging and jumping infront of u at corners and a little jumps I;m deffinetly happy with it!

Yeah i was suspost to have gone today but it rained to much. So i should end up getting my baseline done next week. Then when i get the cai or sri whichever i decide i'll post that to. I'm also looking into getting a set of Pulstar spark plugs. They have a 30 money back guarantee if im not satisified. And i wont it the dyno says otherwise. Have you done exhaust on your trix? what exactly did you do and where did you notice the gain?

Good luck with that. There's no such thing. Cheap means less then $2500, but not less then $2000

I don't know the EXACT technical reason why the CAI offers more HP gains for top end, but I'm gonna go out on a limb for a minute and try some common sense. (If I'm wrong someone jump in here) At high RPMs the engine has to work harder and will get hotter. If you introduce cold air, the it doesn't have to work as hard for to achieve the same goal.

By the way, post those dynos up! I've been wondering myself what those results are.

i had eibach prokits.....a bit firmer than stock, but it was great. 1.2" drop which made the car just look "right"

if youre worried about ride quality and height issues get prokits
