Stamped Chassis VIN position

Can anyone tell me where to find the stamped (raised) VIN on the chassis of my California 2007 Matrix. I know that it is on the dashboard behind the windscreen and the door frames, but I need a raised VIN on the chassis itself that can be carboned onto paper with a pencil. I have just moved to Spain with my car and they require this - weird...

Look on the firewall around the brake booster.

No problem. The firewall is the bulkhead between the engine and the passenger compartment. Pop the hood, you'll see a vertical sheet of metal behind the engine that all the wiring looms and hoses go into to the rest of the car. On the left side of the firewall, there is a round black drum (directly in front of the driver position) on which the brake fluid reservoir is mounted. Look around on the firewall in that position. If memory serves that is where Toyota puts it.
