help please

hey guys i have an 03 matrix xrs. i have heavily modded it but recently my vvtli has stopped working and my car red lines now at 7000 rpm i can't seem to fix it i've tried just about everything does anyone here know what i'm talking about or experienced this and if so please can i have a few suggestions on what to do

Hmmm, sounds like the safety feature is stuck on. The car normally will redline at 7000 RPM until the engine reaches 65 degrees C. This is so the oil is warmed up enough to reach the lifters or something like that. Maybe a malfunctioning temperature sensor?

the lift bolts could be broken as well. if you have replaced the header, or pulled it off at all, then you are in the right area to replace the lift bolts from what i have read, and it is a good idea to, despite that they are a toyota specific part (can't get them at home depot or lowes).

it could also be a bad relay for the oil pressure, or maybe in doing the modifications, you may have done something so a wire is shorting out someplace and the ECU always thinks the motor is not ready to go into lift.
