04 Matrix Clutch Question

Dear Forum Members,

The clutch pedal on my 2004 Matrix is very hard to press, it even becomes painful after driving for a while. Is there any way to adjust the pedal so it is easier to press?

Many thanks in advance for your help!

A new clutch can fix that if you research and buy the right one.

the clutch is a hydraulic assist. this means that when you push on the clutch pedal, there is a pump that pushes the clutch fluid (typically the same as brake fluid, which is usually a DOT 3) and helps to separate the gripping face. by increasing the fluid being pumped in, this will help push more on the clutch, and thus take less effort on your part.

on the other hand, it could also be the spring that is attached to the clutch pedal. i used to drive a 1990 camry with a manual, and once i got my 03 matrix xrs, i noticed right away that the clutch pedal was stiffer to push on, and the clutch would grab off the floor.
