Last year i went to the dealership for rustprofroofing got charge for $99 + tax(CND) not sure if it is worth going back there again....because can't really tell if they do the underbody...but they did do the doors and engine bay....
if anyone else has recommendation let there be light....
I got the "300 $ good for 5 years" rustproofing, and you can easily tell where they sprayed. It cakes on hard and turns a dull snot colour. I haven't had a winter with it yet, though, so I can't report on it's usefulness, but I have high hopes.

Up-to-date info about my car is here.
A friend of mine bought her brand new 2008 Yaris from a local dealership.
She paid $200 for the rust proofing.Has black tar-like substance sprayed
all over underneath her car.
When I bought my brand new 2003 Matrix. No rust-proofing were done on mine.
Except I have it for oil spary the whole car - under carriage, engine compartment, inside the doors, inner fenders - front and rear.
Inside the trunk where the spare tire is.I had done this every year
just before the first snow fall.
Until this day. There were not one specks of rust on my Matrix, lol
The cost is $50 each time. And they using new oils for the treatment.
What you want is a rustproof that will not harm your rubber (hoses, weatherstrips, mouldings...)and will last 4-5 years. I work at a dealer in Montreal and the one we sell is $449.00, we apply once then again 4 years later at no extra cost, which lasts another 4 years(but prpbably longer than that)
Usually the better specialists such as Rest Check, Krown, etc. do a better and cheaper job than dealers. My wife uses Houghin in Kitchener.
Regardless of what you get done, check all rust prone areas that they miss, like bolts and metal brackets in the engine bay. Go to Can. Tire and get a fabulous product called Fluid Film (CT #38-1567-8 $14). Then spray all the areas they miss. I took my spare tire out and did the wheel well and all seams. My son, who is an auto mechanic, said you'd be better off buying a couple of cans of it and doing the whole under side yourself—and far cheaper.
I would never put that fluid film anywhere near my car. That crap is toxic. If you spray it in the engine bay, whats going to happen when you use your heat, it will start to go inside the cabin and then you simply just start getting sick not to mention that it is flammable so I would think twice about putting that stuff near an engine bay. Why do you think that most shops dont use it as an actual rust proofing chemical?

Toxic!? Lanolin based, non-toxic, non-carcinogenic, no solvents, environmentally friendly according to their website. Thank you for pointing out the hazards since you obviously know more than the manufacturer. Every other rust proof spray is flammable too, so it is not recommended that you spray anything on your exhaust manifold.
Besides my Matrix, I have a 96 Mazda 626 that is rust free. I have been using Krown for years and it works great, they spray the underneath and all door panels engine compartment etc etc. It is worth the $100 every year.
