Cosmo CAI install

Helped out a fellow 03 XRS owner install the Cosmo CAI last night. We got a little 'boro' at the end. You'll see...

If anyone decide to get a Cosmo CAI, make sure you bring your sense of humour along w/ you during the installation cuz you're going to need it.

There's a lot of 'massaging' the Cosmo to get it to fit right. But in the end everything seems to work out as long as you go out and get the missing parts before you install it.

Further comments for future buyers:
- get the TRD CAI instructions for stock air intake UNinstall instructions.
- RE. missing part #1 [electrical connector cap] is XRS only. You need to get one of these to cap cover the ACIS VSV as it is not used afterwards.
- RE. missing part #2 [intake manifold port cap] is also XRS only.
- RE. missing part #3 [MAF screws]. Stock MAF screws will not fit the Cosmo's tube. Different thread pattern.
- the Fuel Vapor Feed Hose connects to the Cosmo. The other end goes to the VSV No. 1.

You can read grimm's review here - > http://www.matrixvibe.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4202

Here's the Cosmo CAI in grimm's 03 XRS:

The MAF temporarily ziptied because the stock MAF screws won't fit the tube.

Zip tied MAF = BAD!!! if that thing leeks your Fuel air will be off and ur O2's will get mad and ur ECU will give u crapy fuel trim and then your motor will still be unhapy.

looking at these pics i just cant help to say that the battrie HAS TO GO!. and also a ram induction would have ben the better option.

oh and the lack of vacume lines Scare's the living shit out of me.

Don't worry. grimm fixed everything that was ziptied the following morning. He hasn't had any CEL's since.

Sorry, I don't have a "complete" engine bay shot. Lemme know if you REALLY need one though.

chuckles, you should try and make it out to one of our GTA meets. The next one's this Saturday at Kennedy Commons in Scarborough. See http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/t14468.html for more details.
