yes, the odometer maxed out at 299,999 & I just kept track of the mileage after that with my trip meter. I considered replacing it but just didn't find it feasible. It would have been nice to be able to prove the actual mileage though Thanks & I'm happy to report no injuries.

Did they say anything to you during emissions/inspection about your odometer not working?
as much as I loved My XR, I am considering going with the scion xd. It's a little cheaper than the new Matrix & has the same engine. Considering the miles I drive my car probably won't have any resale value left. so I really need to try & save a little money. I waiting to hear back from the dealership about the odometer on the scion. It would be nice if it actually went to 999,999 before it maxed out.
I guess I should have included the year. I had a 2005. we figured I drove in 4 years what the average person (based on 12,000 miles per year) would drive in 31 years..... makes for 1 sore butt!!

Wow!!
I am glad to see you got your money's worth. Did your Matrix need any major repairs along the way? What was your oil change schedule? Is yours an automatic? are the engine and transmission original?
Thanks

Hi, I had a couple sensor s go out. seems both times I had sensor problems I had just gone throught a car wash with under spray. Don't know if that had anything to do with it, but kind of ironic that it happened 2x. My catalytic converter started going bad somewhere around 320,000- 330,000 miles, but I hadn't replaced it. I could tell she was a little sluggish sometimes but not much of a difference. I wasn't that faithful on the oil changes. Sometimes I would go 10,000 miles before I changed it. I had a friend change the serpentine belt 3x & she was still going on the original engine & transmission. She was such a great car!

Mapreader,
Thanks for the reply I appreciate the info. Since my Corolla has the same drivetrain I look forward to getting the same reliable service out of my car as you have.
