Problem starting 03' Trix xrs

Hey guys,

A friend of mine has an 03' matirx xrs automatic. She recently burnt out her tranny due to lack of matinence. I asked her when the last time she did any fluid changes and she said never. The motor oil is black as night and her radiator fluid looks red with rust. She was able to get ahold of another tranny and asked me if i'd be willing to put it on for her. At the time it didnt seem like it'd be a huge project. I've done tranny swaps in 240's and civics and on my own ae92 corolla, I felt pretty confident. When I got down to it I noticed the tranny's werent exactly the same. The one she got is off a 03' celica gts. the only difference between them was that the celica tranny had an extra plug and the mounts faced opposite directions. Also the torque converter wasnt the same. I just tranfered the mounts over and didnt worry about the extra plug. I just used the original torque converter as well. After evetrything was bolted up and torqued down I go for the start. wont turn over. tested the starter and checked all the plugs. figured it wasnt anything electrical and something mechanical. I have a few ideas but would like some feedback from the legit 'trix owners on here.

Thanks in advance.

well I did some research (that repair stickie really helped a lot) and figured that I didnt install the torque converter correctly, and that its keeping the flywheel from rotating. Apparently it has to lined up specifically on the tranny and then bolted up to the motor as one piece. so I'm doing that right now but I stripped one of the converter mounting bolts. Have one on order from the dealers, should be here sat. Hopefully thats the problem tho, if not then I'm stumped...i'll keep you guys posted. thanks again
