Check Engine Light

Last weekend my Check Engine Light went on in my 2006 Matrix. The dealer said the diagnosed code was PO171 which meant I needed an Air Fuel Ratio Sensor, which they ordered. But when I went out to my car, the Check Engine Light was no longer on. I went back into the Service Dept and was told the light would come back on after 3 cyclings that would occur but only while the gas tank was between 1/4 and 3/4 full. I have kept the tank in this range but the light still has not come back on in 4 days. It seems that if the AFR Sensor was really the problem the Check Engine Light would have come back on by now. I now don't trust the information from the dealer. Any comments?
