Steering problem, please help!!!

I just bought a 2003 toyota matrix with a burnt clutch. I replaced the clutch and all seems fine except when turning to the left there is a grinding noise and a vibration coming from the passenger side. I think it might be the cv joint. Could it be a hub bearing? Please help if you can.

Describe the grinding noise in more detail.

Does it grind when turning left under power? when coasting? under braking? etc.?
Is the grinding noise high pitched (chirping) sound or a low rumbling sound?
Did the car make this noise before, or you couldn't tell because of the burnt clutch?

Could be any number of things that could case noise like that. Anything from a bad CV joint (inner or outer), wheel bearing, transaxle problem, suspension issue, etc.

I'd take a quick peek under the car and look at where the axle meets the transaxle - if it is leaking, could be a simple case where the axle didn't fully seat in there (assuming that you just pulled the inner axle off the transaxle to change the clutch). Should have noticed if the axles were in bad shape, when they came off the transaxle (and/or wheel hub).
