DIY: painting interior trim pieces

Mines where kind of faded plus I hate how every model from base to xrs has the same colors! So I finally decided to paint them! I didn’t want a crapy color like red or something so I just kept it nice and clean! METALLIC BLACK FTW!

Materials:
400/600 and 1000 grit sand paper
painters tape
Primer (flat black engine paint work very good)
Paint color of your choice (dupli-color)
And clear! (dupli-color)

First you have to take all the pieces off and separate them from the buttons. Most of them come right off! Just push the clip and with a screw driver and pull them out! Drivers said door has 3 screws holding the lock/window buttons together but it’s easy to take out!

The lower center piece has a screw in the middle A/C control wheel! Just pull it out and you will find it!

After the pieces are out give them a nice 600-1000 sand paper rub then wash them with dish wash soap (it cuts grease and doesn’t contain carnauba which can bubble the paint)

Give it a light coating of primer
Two coats of paint
Two coats of clear
Wait at least 5 mins in between coatings!
Let dry for about 3 hours in the sun!
Install and enjoy!

after:

I also took this chance to paint the gauge cover! just pull of off with both hands, I HATE CHROME so I painted the chrome piece red! you can leave it black or chrome, what ever you like!

to remove the trim piece just pull the tabs all around with a flat head screw driver

I covered the a/c control panel with headlight vinyl tint because I want to be able to see the indications at night!
