Not impossible - but you would need to do a fair amount of fabrication. Transaxle will probably have to go as well - not only due to compatibility with the engine, but also because the 4-cylinder transaxles most likely cannot handle the extra power.

To keep the FF layout (front engine, front wheel drive) - you're best source for potential donors would be from V6 powered Camry/Solara - in terms of finding potential donors. This would also include tThere are few that have stuffed V6 engines into MR2 and Celicas - I don't think there were any on a Matrix - atleast off the top of my head.

Also keep in mind, the amount of fabrication, wiring, etc. - would most likely be more expensive that what the Matrix is currently worth - but if you want to do something different. Go for it. Here is a link to the V6 powered MR2 page - has some specs on the different Toyota V6 engines that some have used for their swaps. Lists engine code, transaxle codes, sources for said engine - a great resource.

im sure with some custom work you could shoehorn the toyota 1mz V6 engine in a matrix...
theyre plentiful motors that have plenty of power and torque...

^ im sorry, but I do believe this is just another ALL TALK no GO thread! twin turbo the v6? you 1st have to try and get a v6 in it... your going to have space problems as it is... not to mention even more space problems by adding all the twin turbo hardware and its just a matrix dude! your going to kill your self! save some money and get a TT supra if you want v6 speed in a performance platform...

If a 2GR-FE can fit in an MR2 Spyder, there's likely enough room in a Matrix for one of the V6s. But FWD and torque just don't go well together.

Considering the new 6 speed EA/EB manual transaxles Toyota has from diesel duty overseas (295lb-ft of torque they take, stock), it'd be easier to adapt this new transaxle to a FF layout, since one is currently being used in the new 2010 2.5L 2AR-FE equipped Camry. We MR guys have to wait for the Evora, since the shifter cables mount differently. It should have a carrier bearing on the passenger side axle to reduce torque steer.

As far as transaxles, the C series will definitely eat itself up, but the S and E series' work fine with the V6s, even supercharged 1MZs. Obviously the E53/153 is the best way to go with its caged axles and beefy internals, but the lightweight S series has also been proven. An S54 broke its pinion and ring gears on a hard launch with 285 R comp tires with a supercharged 1MZ MR2 and no wheel slip (resistance goes back through the drivetrain). That is its weak point. The C and S transaxles share differential assemblies, but not ring and pinion gears.

I have a buddy that has a shop and he does fabrications and all and he's told me of the mods im gonna have to do to the front end and all. Pricing is reasonable. Just trying to find the right v6. it'll give me enough power that i could get from a turbo. Granted the twin turbos would be pretty expensive for the matrix but u gotta admit it would be a fun car and catch ppl off guard with that much power from a matrix. The supra would be nice but i just have my matrix for now lol.
