2007 matrix questions

Hello All
I am close to buying a sharp 2007 Matrix with low miles, but have a few questions.
There is a square hole in the drivers side inner fender skirt - should there be a cover over this?
This model does not have a rear window wiper - I assume that means it was a base model. Would it still have ABS?

Thanks all for your help

Found another Matrix with a similar hole - it looks like the inner fender was was rubbing on the tire while driving (the inner fender on this one was loose and missing clips) and wore a hole through the plastic.

the square hole is standard, you can get a square plug with a round head from toyota, not necesary though. probably not abs if base. make sure the vehicle has the most up to date part number. problems with factory computers causing shifting problems. if you don't know, it is under the glove box (take flash light), write down number and phone your dealership(parts department) and ask if there is an updated computer. if so, replace, should be warranty.

I have a 2003 Matrix, but haven't noticed that hole - might be something contacting it, like you said - I've seen other makes have one for access to bolts.

No rear wiper would indicate the base model. For ABS - look under the hood against the firewall for the ABS distribution block (has quite a few hard brake lines running from it) and passengerside fender for the ABS module.
