Need new engine!

I have a 05 matrix xr the egine started knocking really bad.. im wondering what other cars share the same engine and from what year? i would like to be able to just pull the old one and drop a replacement motor in without any modifications or anything... I know the corollas have the same engine im more wondering about what years will be the same.. thanks a lot,

05 to 08 is all the same. You can also fit 03-04 but the throttle body is different. What do you mean by knocking? Good luck.

Celica as well (00-05).

my friend's 03 celica gts just got his back end smashed in by a drunk driver, the engine works fine, so i say if you want to do a 2zz swap, my friend has one with around 110k miles on it... then again, im in California too

I just picked up an engine from local wrecker for $1000.00. It has 20,000km. I shoped around a bit and there are lots out there around 50-60,000 km.the vibe engines are also compatible.I am told you may have to use your own intake and exaust manifolds though.

You can use 03-08 Corolla or Matrix/Pontiac Vibe if your care is 2wd. You would only need to change the throttle body over the manifolds are the same for 05-08 Matrix.If you have AWD you must use an engine from a AWD Matrix 03-06. The blocks are different for the AWD.Hope this helps!
