a good story

I dont own a Matrix, not yet atleast. to tell you the truth i never even thought of ownership until 2 days ago. i was crusin some dealerships looking at SVT focus's Neon's, used Civics. stuff like that. so then i get into the toyota dealership seeing if they had and GenII Celica's with the beastly 2.2 mottor. odly they didnt. but the sailsman seed.. here lets go test drive THIS.... and he shows me a catolog for a MATRIX.... i was confused, i thought it was an econo box!!! we walk out into the lot and there they are. a line of matrix's mostly Xr's but he go's strait to the cooler looking car.. an Xrs!! i was alredy slack jawed at the fact that that model had 180HP using a 1.8 VVT-i. truth be told i thought the matrix was a hybrid when it frist came out!! then my jaw fell out of its socket when i read it had a 6 speed. then it hit me like a ton of bricks. the 1.8 16v VVT-i in the Matrix, was the same mottor and drive train found in the celica GT's and the new lotus elise (USA Model). or atleast they shared way tomany similaritys. so we get into the car and start movin, even stock the engine sounded nice. a slight purrrr with a sporty bite. as im toolin around i notice the engine was low on tourq, this was due to the fact that i drove to the dealership in a 1996 Jeep Grand Charokie with a 4.0 inline 6. but once the matrix got over 4000 RPM's it was like the world was under my right foot and i got to SMUSH IT out the back tail pipe. with the 6 speed between my fingertips and the nicest short throw iv ever handeld in a stock car i was in heven. as i got onto the highway i thought we where going alital slow then i look down and realized the car was alredy doing 65 and it felt like it was athome. then once we got off the high way, my true test began. at the top of this post i seed i checked out a SVT Focus, well id like to say the matrix probobly handels just as well in a day to day aplication. that was my true test, taking new england roads at 40-55 as the salsman held onto the oh shit handel and i reashured him about my skip barber preformance driving and my varius conections to sports car racing clubs and the varius cars i have driven. after all that we got back to the dealership and i checked out the rest of the car from the driver seat back. id like to say im not going to miss the cargo capacity of my jeep.

well now i just need to work out the money and i might just be roling an Xrs soon.

slow down man

and i had the almost same scenario.. i was in a dealership and was gonna ask about a 1.6EL acura they had and also about a couple used jetta's they had in the lot.. went into the showroom to find a salesman to open the cars up for me and saw a trix sitting there, so i walked over sat in the drivers seat and was sold right there. knew almost nothing about the car until the salesman told me.. came online and spent a ton of hours reading through this site and the 2 other matrix sites and i signed the papers a week or 2 later
