is it only me?? poor radio head unit?

HI

just wondering what do you think of the OEM radio and speakers on your matrix?

whenever I sit in my GF Matrix 2005, I find the sound quality of the radio pretty poor

am I they only one thinking this way? you like your sound?

TIA

Probably depends on the unit in question (different option levels of headunits) and what you are used to in mobile audio.

Our Matrix was equipped with in dash 6-changer and 6-speaker setup - and is adequate for our needs. Choice of music can also make the system sound better or worse - as you can't expect too much dynamic range and imaging with the OEM paper speaker cones and placement.

I wouldn't call it poor in quality, but there is definitely room for improvement. Just upgrading the speakers will make a huge difference in sound quality. Headunit itself is fairly clean, just don't crank it up too high.

Funny people from Canadian Car Audio Forum were telling me the opposite. change the head first . if still don't like, change the speakers..
also can you tell where are located your 6 speaker , so I can see if I also have 6. I tought I had only 4 ( but didn't really check..)
TIA
Stef.

Interesting, in the states, most start with speakers and then upgrade the headunit - assuming that they didn't need any additional inputs on the headunit itself. Good example are a built-in aux input for a separate MP3 player or support for MP3/AAC.

Couple be a difference in equipment levels in the different markets - most of the headunits in my area are built by Pioneer, Matsushita/Panasonic or Eclipse (Fijitsu-10) - all fairly decent.

Speaker locations - one speaker in each door and one in each corner garnish, right next to the side view mirrors.

fishexpo101 I was also thinking like you, but according to a few people over there there's a good probability that changing the head will make the biggest difference in my OEM ( low end ) system. they also suggested eclipse CD5030 and JVC KD-R800 for a receiver and said if I change the speakers ,I could look for Co-axials preferably whit dome tweeter...\

Regards
Stef
