1 Key is working , the other isnt

Hi !
I am about to buy a Matrix 2006 4WD but there is a problem. One key is working perfectly. The other key goes in the ignition well, turn , the engine is turning but never starts. I guess it is the chip inside the key that has a malfunction. Do you know if the dealership can reflash the key or I have to buy another one ?? How much does it cost ?

Thank you

Sounds like the key needs to be reprogrammed. They can do it at the dealership for a nominal fee, you could also find instructions online to reprogram it yourself. Cost wise, I've heard it varies from "free" to $90 "diagnostic fee". But that is here in the states, not sure what they would charge up there.

Since you haven't bought the car yet - might be something you can work with the owner to remedy or use that to negotiate a new price to account for that. Also double check that the FCC number on the bottom of the key matches between the two. If they are different, there is a chance that the key will not work - dealership will have more information on that.
