Tein S-Tech review

Hi !
I am looking for coils and I saw S-Tech on ebay. I was wondering if some people here tried them and how they like it. What are you review about these coils ? Is it comfortable ? I'm not looking for a stiff ride for race, since here in Quebec the roads are full of pot holes. Are they smooth enough ?

S-techs use progressive spring rates that emphasize ride quality and comfort, so you should be fine.

My friend had S. Tech on his 200SX SE-R with AGX coils and it was bouncing and way too stiff ... that's why I was wondering.

I'm still looking for the rates of the oem coils, if somebody knows...

OEM ones should be pretty close to the Tein H.Tech springs. S.Tech are a little more aggressive, drop wise, compared to the H. Tech.

As for ride quality - varies with which strut you pair it with. KYB AGX adjustable struts may have been a bad match for the springs with the 200SX. Sometimes it takes a few weeks before everything settles in and behaves "normally".

Tein S.Techs are well liked by many, most couple it with a Tokico or KYB GR-2 strut. Have to be a bit careful, Tein S.Techs can drop the ride 2" or more, when it is finally settled. Most struts are designed for 1.5-1.75" drop max, before some damage may occur.

Some have been riding around without issues for years, others blow out struts within a few months of installation. Struts specifically made for 2" drops or more, tend to have much more aggressive valving, which can work against a relatively soft spring like the Tein S.Tech.

The KYB AGX coupled with a H&R Race or Eibach Sportline spring (~2" drop for both, are a pretty decent combination). The KYB-GR2 or Tokico Blues paired with a H&R Sport or Eibach Pro-Kit (~1 - 1.5" drop) works pretty well together. On my Corolla, I'm running a TRD Spring (rebadged Eibach Pro-Kit spring) and KYB-GR2s. Rides as smoothly as stock on smoother roads, a very noticeable improvement in brake dive and acceleration squat, and getter load capacity with the appropriate damping (not bouncy or beats up your kidneys when driving on rougher surfaces).

I like em and I'm running Stechs and Tokico HP series Struts. I'ts a bit low if you like low. I think they are soft but yet sporty in curves

I've been looking at the Tokico HP series with either TRD/Eibach setup. I'd rather go with a less serious drop so the car handles better but doesn't looked dropped. My wife drives it more than me anyway so I want to keep the ride nice.
