Tire pressure light...

I just got tires put on the front of my Matrix today and noticed that the tire pressure light was on on the way home. I know the tire pressure is where it needs to be as they checked them at the shop.

Is there any way to re-set it?

tire pressure light

Are you sure it is not reading low spare tire pressure? I dont have this feature on my 03 Matrix but on our CRV, the light goes out after driving a block or so one the pressure issue is resolved.

Spare tire pressure? I'm not using a spare. I did find out how to reset it though. Thanks!

The plot thickens...

I double checked the pressure in the tires as the light kept coming back on and I made sure they were set to the specifications the Matrix calls for (35psi in the front, 32psi in the back.) I re-set the light again and this time it went off. However after a few miles, the light came back on.

Any idea why this is happening?

What year is your 'trix?

Mooch,

What year is your Matrix?

If it's a 2008 or newer, it has individual tire pressure sensors in each wheel (direct TPMS). If this is the case, then chances are that one or both of the sensors were damaged when the new tires were installed.

If your 'trix is a 2007 or older, the car uses the ABS to monitor and compare individual wheel speeds (indirect TPMS). If there is a discrepancy (a tire with low pressure will spin faster than the others), then the light will illuminate.

Here's some good reading material on the subject - - > TPMS Information

I hope this helps.
