2003 Matrix XR Door

I have a 2003 XR and yesterday this occured. My driver side door will not open. This is due to me not being able to unlock the door. The FOB, electronic switch, manual switch, and key will not unlock this door. Any suggestion would be helpful. Thanks

I can see the electronics going out (wiring issue) that would cause the door to not unlock with the key fob or from the central door witch, but the manual switch and the key are mechanically connected, they will open the door with or without any power to the door.

Two possible things here - the door locking servo is locked up on you, but you should notice a considerable amount of resistance when you rotated the key to unlock it. Another possibility - you got moisture stuck between the weatherstripping and the door frame. Even a little bit of water can cause trouble - I've had my door frozen so well, that you'll likely snap the handle off before the door budges.

Easy to test the latter - just run some warm water around the door to free it up or park the car in a warmed garage for a couple of hours. If it is a mechanical issue - you'll have to pop the door panel off to get at the lock solenoid - this itself would be tough, since the panel presses against the door opening on the chassis. This is assuming that the door was working well before and there is no accidents (front and rear) in the car's history.
